Program Summary
  1. To become familiar with basic head and neck anatomy as it applies to the imaging professional
  2. To understand the importance of MRI in the clinician's ability to treat his/her patient, and particular pulse sequences the MRI technologist would utilize to aid in reaching a diagnosis
  3. To visualize T1 sagittal anatomy of the brain
  4. To visualize T2 FLAIR anatomy of the brain, including midline corpus callosum
  5. To visualize T2 axial anatomy of the brain, including basal ganglia, caudate and lentiform nuclei
  6. To learn pertinent anatomy of the venous MRA structures
  7. To learn relevant anatomy in a T2 axial of the brain through the region of the internal auditory canals, including the 7th and 8th cranial nerves, cochlea and semicircular canal
  8. To visualize relevant anatomy in a T2 axial of the brain through the region of the orbits, including orbital nerve, optic chiasm and rectus muscles
  9. To differentiate gray matter vs. white matter in a dual IR axial of the brain, in addition to the genu and internal capsule
  10. To visualize relevant anatomy in a T2 axial of the brain through the region of the pituitary gland, including the anatomy structures of the pituitary, internal carotid and sagittal sinus
  11. To visualize pertinent anatomy in a heavily T2 weighted sagittal STIR of the brain
  12. To visualize pertinent anatomy in a MIP image of a contrast enhanced carotid arteries MRA, including brachiocephalic and aortic arch anatomic structures
  13. To distinguish the lobes of the brain, and their basic structures
  14. To grasp the importance of gradient echo imaging in the brain
  15. To learn the function of the insula
  16. To grasp the importance / findings of a FLAIR axial in patients with migraines, and the common hyperintense signal
  17. To visualize the temporal lobe indications in MRI, specifically atrophy and mesial temporal sclerosis
  18. To learn the MRI value in epileptic patients, and the diagnostic importance in MR spectroscopy in diagnosing patients with mesial temporal sclerosis
  19. To visualize hydrocephalus in an axial brain MRI
  20. To understand the location and function of the cranial nerves
  21. To visualize the cranial nerves I - IV on heavily T2 weighted images
